I am a California Native, and I am now living and teaching in Texas. I earned my Associate in Liberal Arts degree from East Los Angeles College, in Monterey Park, California, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and Bilingual Education from Texas A&M University, in College Station, Texas. For the past 13 years, I have served as a 4th grade dual language ELA & SLA teacher, currently teaching language arts and social studies in English & Spanish. From 2014-2017, I worked as a volunteer Education Liaison for a non-profit, helping to bring to life the vision of a world that values all cultures, education, and the arts.
In January of 2017, my 4th grade class of 2016-17 inspired me to enter the world of blogging. They taught me that the best classrooms are those where all of the humans in the room are learners... and we learn best by learning from each other. Due to our amazing blogging adventures, I am now a proud Kidblog Ambassador. During the summer of 2017, I became a National Writing Project, Heart of Texas Writing Project, Teacher Consultant / University of Texas at Austin. As a Writing Project Teacher Consultant, I joined the CSISD Writing Project team in July 2017. Working with an eclectic group of writers, poets, authors, and leaders of literacy helps me to grow as a writer. In May of 2019, I joined Two Writing Teachers as a co-author. "We believe teachers who teach writing should write, not out of obligation or duty, but rather out of the knowledge that strong teachers of writing are effective when they live the life they expect of their students." |
